I feel strongly about this issue. However, we need to reach out to the angry Muslims all over the globe that violent confrontation is not going to resolve this. It just paints a negative image of Muslims.
Some obvious suggestions [my opinion and after reading various blogs - Thank you Pak Remgold for your OPED] would be:
1.Economical Embargo [Against the right entities] 2.Branding Palestine as the 21st century HOLOCAUST 3. Invite ASEAN to make a collective stand on this issue 4. Take up this cause as THE one issue in which Malaysians are not divided, racially, politically, etc
Before World War II, the Arabs actually managed to stall/holdback Britain from delivering Israel for a good 20 years or so. However, the crimes of Holocaust gave the Zionist the momentum and upperhand to'demand' for the creation of a homeland despite Arab having ruled the region in peace for over a thousand years from 7th to 19th century.
I am no expert but we have this tool. Our words, honed to perfection, can carry a great message across. Peaceful [and clever] actions like the naming of the aid ship 'Rachel Corrie' can create awareness, understanding and bring about effective measures to highlight the plight of the Palestinians.
We need intelligent lobbyist and effective diplomats to make our stand loud and clear. And subversive when required.
Unfortunately, we only see the man on the street pouring out tears of frustration, venting out anger in irrational ways. That is not going to win us this battle.
99% of the demonstrators in front of the US Embassy last Friday were Malays. Whatever happened to the MCA's,MIC's,DAP's, etc cry of human rights and fair play.
1Malaysia? Sudah lah. Must give them more scholarship and funds to repair their temples and schools before they are willing to move an inch of their arse.
ninot - i share your views, but as long as the muslim world remains fragmented and for as long as the despicable regime has its godfather backing it, there'll never be any solution.
anon - INDEED! To the average non-melayu muslim in this country, palestine is not their problem, it's the muslim problem. in fact i read a comment to an article in a british online paper. comment from a malaysian (nama macam kaplamyanga) proclaiming his support for israel.
When I saw and read in this papers about this issue, saya berdoa didalam hati "Ya Allah, Engkau berikanlah pembalasan kekejaman dan kehinaan terhadap mereka yang melakukan kezaliman".
mengharap Allah yang membalas bagi pihak kita hanyalah seperti menghambakan Allah....sedangkan kita lah Hamba...Tang sini lah silapnye kita orang islam...
anon 12.40 - you dah salah takrif tu. Berdoa meminta pertolongan Allah swt bukan bermaksud memperhambakan Dia. Allah swt SURUH kita sentiasa meminta kepadaNya disamping berusaha. Dia suruh tau..you better pi perkemaskan sikit your tafsir dan takrif.
Drpd berdoa minta Allah memberi pembalasan kpd yg melakukan kekejaman (dlm konteks ini Israel), lebih baik berdoa minta Allah satukan puak-puak Arab yg tak pernah boleh bersatu. Supaya depa nie kuat & boleh play fair game at same level dgn musuh depa. Memang masalah besar sebab Arab sejak dari azali memang lagu tu; tak boleh bersatu. Sapa yg letak sekatan kepada Gaza? Israel saja? Mesir pun ada tumpang sekaki. Puak-puak Arab tu kira bernasib baik sebab Allah turunkan Rasul dalam masyarakat depa. Kalaulah Allah turunkan Rasul di S.E.A. region instead, tak taulah apa dah jadi dengan Arab nih!
