It's food glorious food at the Abus on Raya Day; nasi minyak, serunding, rendang, lemang, ketupat nasi, kuah kacang, ayam kuzi.. oboy.. berapa kilos mau naik after this..
Lemang is a must. This year's lemang did not come in a buluh (bamboo) but popped out of an oven, thus evenly cooked with not a crisp bit anywhere. I know it's soo unraya-like, but what the heck, at least one can eat every morsel without any waste..
Bossman tucking in after Solat Raya at Masjid At-Taqwa, Taman Tun.
Kak Piah's (the children's paternal aunt) super-sedap Dates Delight. She has been making this for at least half a century. When I married into the family in the mid 70s, she was already churning out this specialty of hers for umpteenth years.
This year's cookies, all 17 balangs of them, are entirely homemade (but not by me, hehehe). My appointed job was master taster...
Raphiza's Carrot Cake.. don't know where she found time to bake it. Fiza is Joe's friend and ex-colleague who spent her Raya morning with us while waiting for her 6 pm flight home to Kota Baru.
Yummylicious Kek Lapis Prune by Yani a.k.a. "Kitchen Guardian", the corporate lawyer who bakes and blogs...
It's Awang the blue-eyed kucing joining the family photo!
Err... why is everybody looking startled? And the pakcik & makcik, with their benign expression, look like some bucolic couple from Hicksville..
Finally, semua manage to keep still - no monkeying around - for this oh-so-predictable picture...
Da Boys... Pak Abu flanked by Joe (left) and Naj. Asked why they bent their bodies for this snapshot, they answered, "In solidarity with Bossman who's shorter than us!"
