Dinner With Cikgu Din

By the time this posting is up, my beloved Cikgu Samsudin Jusoh (Cikgu Din) and his adorable wife would have been half-way home to good old Dungun.

The lovely duo were in town for the past few days to 'lepas rindu' with their 'cucus', pictured above with their parents. They had planned to leave for Dungun this morning.

As the norm these days, whenever Cikgu Din was in town, he would not fail to let me know. Such courtesy; I'm humbled, as always, by this man's timeless grace.

At 71, Cikgu Din is very internet-savvy. He sends me messages through Facebook; his keenness to keep learning new things puts young people to shame.

He's pretty active on FB, updating and uploading every so often. I forgot to ask if he tweets as well, but I wouldn't be too surprised if he does.

We took them out to dinner last night; that was the least I could do for this rock of my childhood; my teacher and mentor combined.

I am hoping to catch up with him again soon, hopefully at my daughter Awwa's nuptials in September. May Allah swt bless us with the opportunity...

Note to my sister Nor Zahana:
"Ani, he kept asking about you. Three times he mentioned your name. I think you ought to be Dungun-bound soon.. :D"

That is cikgu with a heart, getting somewhat rare as facebook has taken over the natural software in one's self. And he belongs to my generation!

It is not surprising that these Cikgus are internet savvy - including Pakcik from Al-Manar. My Mum too FBs daily to keep in touch with friends and family.

Don't you sense a different spirit guiding the hands and hearts of all of these gracious mentors and teachers to the rest of humankind?

Cikgu Din came for the 3 night tahlils at our Kg Sungai Udang house early last month. I did talk about your last posting on him. I can see that he was very happy about the whole thing.. your blogging on the event.. him being your favorite teacher and all..
He did mentioned about his computer activities and your-good-selves that weekend when I went to see his son at his house. Yes, he did mentioned then about coming to KL to see his cucus and his thought of notifying you in advance.. while washing his car ;)
