Joe with colleague, June
Dinesh digging into Yee Sang, with girlfriend Rachel. That's Ann on the right
The whole jingbang having a whale of a time at dinner last night. From left: June, Jason, Dinesh, Rachel, Ann, Naj's colleague Fuzzie, Naj, Pak Abu & Mak Labu and Awwa.
It has been quite a while since the Abus got together so we decided to regroup at the Royal Lake Club in Taman Tasik Perdana, KL last night, for yee sang in celebration of Chinese New Year.
After all we do have a Chinese son (Jason) and a Chindian son (Dinesh). I have known these two fellas since they were "budak berhinguih"; they were Naj and Joe's childhood friends and grew up under my ketiak, so to speak...
Dinesh flies (he's with MAS), so it has always been difficult to pin him down for makan and such. Fortunately, he's in town these couple of days. Jason is now a (recently single) father (of one adorable little girl). It was great to sit down for makan like old times..

Puteri, Growing up, I never heard of yee sang. But last year when I went back, I was introduced to this at one of the clubs in Subang Jaya, I think. Thank God we didnt quite hit it off, if not i'd be craving for that now.
Melior air leleh Kak Hajah,
Steam boat Bunga Raya diBrickfields!
Pak Abu and Mak Labu??
Sounds a darling old pair!!hehe
Lake Club is Uncle Som's first choice for meeting classmates.
How high did you toss your yee sang?
Kak Teh - I crave for it each time CNY comes around, Kak Teh. Always looking for an excuse to toss yee sang..
Pak Tuo - Eh bestnye! I love steamboat.. I kaki makan, Pak Tuo..
Mamasita - hehehe mamasita.. my badanpun getting to look more and more like labu, so apt..LOL
Pok Ku - all the outlets there serve good food, reasonably priced too. I didn't toss very high Pok Ku.. knowing accident-prone me, sat lagi yee sang jamu kat lantai ..hehehe
Kak Puteri,
Wahh..makan besar lohh!! Love yee sang, and you are right, cannot try to be terror, want to toss high, high, nanti berterabur :)
hehehe kay, no wonder la I kurang ong kot, yee sang kais kat bawah2 ajer..:)
The last time I had yee sang was many many years ago when I was still working in KL. Itu pun tak berani nak toss lebih-lebih because I never was an expert when it comes to using the chopstick. Kalau kira exam marks, sekadar pass cukup makan aje kot.
Takkan tetiba I sorang lak nak guna fork and spoon to toss the yee sang kan? Confirm tak leh bawak majlis... :)
Pi - I remember learning to hold the chopsticks, way back in 1973, masa mula2 baru jadi reporter. I thought it was such a 'seksa' way to eat! But these days we tend to use chopsticks kalau makan noodles and we hv them at home as well.
I pun tergelak baca caption Pak Abu and Mak Labu. hehe.
My ex-boss dulu selalu jugak bawak kitorang ke lake club for their dim sum. I think they have the best dim sum. Too bad one can only go if they are a member of at least go in with a member. lol.
Kak Puteri et al,
just to share with you, i grew up in a place called Kallang Basin in Singapore. there was a restaurant there that claimed they had started the yee sang tradition in the early 70s.
so, the tradition may have been an illusion... sorry
jasmani jalil, singapura
Salaam, Jas - tq for dropping by again. it's ok kalau the tradition is an illusion only. Janji makan yee sang sedap..hehehe
