Second It Was

Giving Gladys Knight's "Midnight Train To Georgia" a (hopefully decent) shot. Apologies for the poor visual...

Kama (left), face shining in the neon glare, taking the opportunity to capture a moment with Datin Paduka Julie Sudiro, a living legend in the local entertainment industry and one of the judges for the night. On the right is Kama's chatter friend Rahayu (a.k.a. Kitty), whose forgetfulness in bringing her cheering pom-pom cost us our trophy (so she said..hehehe).

The Royal Lake Club's four-year winning streak in the Inter-Club Karaoke Competition took a tumble last night when it lost its perch to the National Press Club.

The Royal Lake Club's OAP* team lost by a slim margin, coming a close second to a youthful media team. Well, you win some, you lose some. That's what competition is all about.

Kudos to the new inter-club champion; rest assured we'll return next year to avenge our defeat. Whatever the case, I had a blast belting out Gladys Knight's "Midnight Train To Georgia"...

Kama,
The judges must be having a hard time making a decision and thus the narrow margin. Both must be equally good. The younger team must have been given the edge to bring some life and fun to the competition.

Pak Zawi - the young ones kasi bantai lagu melayu rock kapak, the wargamas stuck to English & Chinese evergreens.. hehehe.. Any which way, it was a fun outing...

Aishah - Julie Sudiro was under the weather semalam. she said after listening to 35 contestants belting out 35 songs.. pening dia..LOL

LF - Datin Paduka Julie Sudiro was a real sport. Dalam badan tak sihat tu dia penuhi jugak permintaan ramai to deliver a song; she sang Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me To The Moon" to a thunderous applause. Suara tetap di tahap lama sebagai evergreen crooner..

Puteri,
Was hoping Lake Club would win. If it is you, Tenku Farid, Ramli etc Lake Club would have won. As it is...you know what I mean. Am sure you carry the most marks. Congratulations, nevertheless.
You should hear Julie berzanji, she is very active in berzanji and marhaban group in Subang Jaya and very popular with those who hold babies' Majlis Cukur Jambul. Do you know she teaches koran reading these days?
Salam, Nana DJ

2nd pun takper..you're still the best karaoke crooner for me..the best..of course kita tak boleh nak perform like those more youthful..but thats natural.

Love you always.

Dear Kak Kama,

Congratulations. Rindunya everyone especially Kak Julie. Hope she is feeling better.

Recognition (and nostalgia) for rock music is on the rise. Perhaps that gave the NPC an edge. Whatever it is, I am sure the Lake Club team brought class and style to the event.

Tunku Farid...whenever he entered was always best contestant, sampai tak boleh masuk lagi!

Sorry to say Puteri, poor selection of song choice 'M.T 2Georgia' by Gladly 2Night & the pimps...kakaka. The better one would be the lively 'These boots r made for walking'....kekeke

All in good fun tho, bet everyone had a blast too!

Cheers,
Tommy

Nana - TST lahkan.. for next year we hv to strategise differently. Language of songs has to be balanced. Am pleasantly surprised to know Julie Sudiro sekarang mengajar Qura'an.. Alhamdulillaaah!

Zai - next time we know la who to invite kalau ada event macam ni.. we can hv fun together2..

Mamasita - aww, but you are my bosom buddy.. must join us next time tau..

Ninot - so I heard. but now Tengku Farid & co (Rahim et al) dah go professional, at 70+ .. dahsyatlah depa. They call themselves "The Four Seasons" and perform all over the country!

Tommy - the older crowd prefers this sort of bluesy, jazz &swing band type of music as opposed to the young 'uns..

Wan - bukan judge aja pening, saya pun pening gak! orang kata singing overload..
